In beautiful Colorado, backyards are not as leveled as what are in Nebraska. Backyards with a slope give homeowners more options and present challenge too, in terms of how they landscape the backyard. There’re general two approaches for backyard design that is not completely leveled. The first option is to make the backyard a complete leveled ground so that you can built the features you like – a small playground for young kids, water features or fire pit for more fun. The second option is to creatively use the slope. Even in a not-leveled backyard, you could build vegetable garden or flower garden, playground etc.
In the lower corner of the backyard, for instance, raised bed gardens will balance the landscaping effects. They will make the yard look not as steep as they really are. If you are not a big fan of raised vegetable gardens, you could have a water feature at the lower corner too. They will achieve the same effect as the raised gardens. Raised gardens are easy to build for a DIY project, whether are raised vegetable gardens or raised flowers gardens. Raised gardens are usually about 8-12 inches about the ground. That gives you the place to put soils, not to worry about clays that are common in Colorado.
