If you’re looking for a collectable clock, there are a couple of different types of clocks that I like to consider. I usually shop for a vintage clock because I find them the most interesting to collect. Some of my favorite types are colletible mantel clocks, which can be from any period of manufacture since the 1750s and look wonderful displayed on either your fireplace mantel, your entertainment center or even your coffee table.
My personal favorites are some of the Art Deco clocks made in the 1920s and Thirties. They have a subdued ornateness I really appreciate and liven up the room nicely while also being a practical timekeeper. They can work with both classical and modern interiors as well.
My other favorite type of clock are table nautical clocks. These wonderful brass Marine clocks not only keep precise accurate timing, but many of them will allow you to keep track of tides and pressure too. They are not just for looks, even though these clocks look terrific with maritime themed decor and they have a nice heavy presence as well. You can find porthole shaped clocks, or clocks with a ship’s wheel. There are many styles to consider.
